Forest School
We are extremely lucky in Acorns to have beautiful, large gardens for our Forest School explorations. In the garden we have a base camp, a fire pit, an outside kitchen, den areas, large planting areas and lots of room for free exploration. Our Forest School sessions are led by Sam, a level three Forest School practitioner, assisted by the team.
Sessions take place daily, in all weathers, (except high winds) as long as we have willing volunteers amongst the children then the sessions will run.

Forest School helps children to develop confidence, self-esteem and social skills. Children work together in small groups, learning very quickly the value of teamwork.
Whilst participating in regular Forest school sessions children develop an understanding of the natural environment, they learn about wildlife, growth and life cycles.
Throughout the year children have many opportunities for using their own initiative to problem solve and learn how to handle risk. Adults support the children's explorations, encouraging resilience, confidence, creativity and independence through carefully planned activities and opportunities.
